Matthew 25: 31 - 46 is a parable that Jesus told about a future day when we will all stand before God. "All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats" (verse 32). AFTER He separates them, the King will say to the sheep on His right, "Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world" (verse 34). What follows in the next verses is Jesus commending His sheep for their righteous character. He commends them for the simple acts of kindness that was so much a part of their lives. In verses 35 and 36, Jesus says, "For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me, I was in prison and you visited Me." By God's grace may we grow in godly character as we humbly serve others in need around us. We don't do this to get "saved" but we want to do it because we are "saved."
